Fair Trade Wholesale is the wholesale arm of Lovethatstuff. We import Fair Trade crochet brooches, necklaces, collars and bracelets from India; earrings, necklaces and bracelets from Kenya; organic cotton tops from India, men’s and women’s tops from India and Nepal.
We buy from WFTO (World Fair Trade Organisation) registered producer groups because this helps ensure that there are good social projects which the groups can fund with the extra premium that Fair Trade pays.
We like to buy natural fibres so all our Indian men’s shirts are made from handloom cotton from a small workshop in Bihar, India’s poorest state. They have also produced some cotton/linen mixed fabrics. Blockprint cloth comes from Gujarat, again, from a small workshop. As it uses vegetable dyes, the water can be used to irrigate farmland afterwards in a very arid area of Gujarat.
OurĀ organic cotton tops are from Assisi Organics in Tamil Nadu. These are made from Fair Trade cotton though we haven’t registered with the Fairtrade Labelling Organisation because we buy in small quantities so it’s not cost effective to go through the registration process but the farmers are getting the Fair Trade premium so that makes us feel good.
Good quality products are important to us as we want our customers to enjoy what they buy. We also want them to last as this is a main component of sustainability. We are a registered not-for-profit company and financially support some extra social projects when our producer partners need some extra help.
